There’s a quiet shift that happens when you’re the firstborn…
You go from being just the oldest sibling to becoming the anchor.
Especially when the mother is no longer there, and the father remains—you begin to feel it. The weight. Not material, not financial, but something deeper.
A responsibility of presence, of wisdom, of keeping the family stitched together when life tries to pull the seams apart.
I look at my siblings and I don’t just see brothers and sisters—I see my own.
And now more than ever, I realize I’ve entered that stage where how I live matters.
My decisions, my voice, my example—they carry weight.
It’s a beautiful thing, growing up. But with that beauty comes the burden of staying grounded.
Of being the one who sees beyond the moment.
Of holding space for unity, even when it’s not easy.
So yes, I am the elder now.
And I don’t take that lightly.
